My name is Michael and I am a photographer by trade, but I prefer to call myself an artist. I was born and raised in a small northern California town called, Sebastopol. It was the 80’s and 90’s, and a sleepy little town. Three of four families drove a 1985 Volvo, and everyone had a hacky sack. I attended the nearby community college, where I tried every artform in the book. I was 90% through a well respected culinary program when my life changed forever. Two dear friends and myself went to live in the United Kingdom, for a work abroad program. Let me tell you, my mind exploded. I had never been exposed to so many beautiful things, cultures, foods, history, and architecture. I wanted to remember it all, so I took pictures, pictures, pictures, and that is where my love of photography was born. I came home, changed my major, and eventually attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara California. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commercial Photography, in early 2009. I have done many things since then, and loved them, but my love of the camera has always remained. I hope you will join me on my journey as an artist in NYC, working together to create something beautiful. Thank you, and welcome to Michael David Photography.
